Homestudy and external units

Prerequisite: None

ICPKP®’s Anatomy and Physiology is the basis of the physical side of PKP™.

The ICPKP A&P1 course is built around NZQA units and meets the requirements for Level 4 Anatomy & Physiology in both New Zealand & Australia. It provides a simple, basic introduction to Anatomy and Physiology (160 hours) and, as a bonus, teaches the use of medical terminology to communicate with clients, fellow workers and health professionals.

You will be able to describe in simple anatomical terms the respiratory, integumentary, urinary, cardiovascular, digestive, reproductive and nervous systems with special reference to the brain and special senses; describe the human skeleton and types of joints; explain muscle structure and describe the origin, insertion and action of major muscles of the body.

The content includes references to useful YouTube videos and other websites with great 3D modelling.

Two bonus inclusions throughout (that are not examined) are helps with Anatomical Terminology (language) plus Health and Medical Terminology.  Our practitioners love these explanations for when their clients bring medical reports to show them because their doctor did not explain the technical words to them.

Dr Dewe says:

“A girl at an NZ rural secondary school wanted to become a nurse but hated ‘science at school’. Her grandma enrolled her in our A&P1 through an Australian college advertising the ICPKP H/study course. She loved it and passed with high marks. The Australian college sent a copy of the Level 4 A&P Certificate to the NZ rural school. They presented it at an  assembly and today that woman is a senior Nurse Practitioner with one of the District Health Boards in NZ.”
