Hip, Leg, Foot Muscle Protocols

These three PKP regional protocols enable you to develop skill and understanding in analysing muscle problems in the hip and lower limb and will become your reference manual for working with all the muscles of this region.

PKP regional protocols provide an in-depth clinical examination of the hips, legs and feet that a client would expect from an experienced health professional. As well as this physical analysis, the metaphysical and emotional aspects of injury are also explored.

Having completed this unit you will be able to professionally test and facilitate increased function and performance in the 16 muscles of the hip joint, the 7 muscles of the knee and leg and the 17 muscles of the ankle and foot.

Elements of learning:

  • Muscles acting on the hip joint:
Range: quadriceps, sartorius, fascia lata, psoas, iliacus, adductors, gluteus medius, piriformis, gemelli superior and inferior, quadratus femoris, obturator internus and externus, gluteus maximus, hamstrings, gracilis.
  • Muscles acting on the knee joint range:
fascia lata, quadriceps, sartorius, popliteus, gastrocnemius, hamstrings, gracilis.
  • Muscles acting on the ankle joint and foot range:
gastrocnemius, soleus, peroneus, anterior and posterior tibials, extensor hallucis longus, extensor hallucis brevis, flexor digitorum brevis, flexor digitorum longus, flexor hallucis brevis, flexor hallucis longus, abductor hallucis, extensor digitorum brevis, extensor digitorum longus, lumbricales [foot], plantar and dorsal interossei [foot].
  • Apply kinesiology techniques to correct energy imbalances in muscles in the hip,
    knee/leg and ankle/foot.
  • Utilise all techniques learned to date within the PKP Balancing Protocol.
