Joan Dewe MA

Joan is a Chartered Natural Medicine Practitioner, NZ Registered Kinesiologist and Professional member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society.
Joan graduated with a Masters degree in languages – majoring in French and Latin, with Greek and English as minors. This has resulted in clear, concise, precise Manuals and Student Activity Journals for PKP™. Initially, a secondary school teacher, Joan then worked in a medical research institute where she developed skills which have been invaluable to her. She worked with Bruce in health and safety in a hydro power construction area, then family practice in a seaside town with many fishermen, farm and forestry workers whilst doing complementary medicine.
Like Bruce, Joan first experienced Applied Kinesiology (for a scoliosis) in 1977. She became a TFH Instructor in 1980 and a TFH Foundation Faculty Trainer in 1982.
Joan was the Senior Instructor for Three-in-One Concepts in the South Pacific for many years and assisted Gordon Stokes with the first One Brain class in Germany. Her summaries of his teaching are in Structural Neurology.
Joan retired from Three-in-One to help Bruce with NZQA standards and to develop the Professional Kinesiology Practice (PKP™) workshops. She co-taught the famous 1986 Bali Tropical Workshop. PKP™1 – PKP™3 were introduced annually at this venue and PKP™4 in NZ in 1990. Dr. John Thie attended the 1989 PKP™1 & 2 workshops in Pasadena after which he wrote the foreword for PKP 1.
In 1989, Joan & Bruce were the first recipients of the TFH Richard Byrne Award for their enthusiasm and innovative development of Touch for Health and the PKP™ programme.
As TFH Faculty Trainer, Joan was instrumental in setting up the NZ Touch For Health Annual Meeting in 1982, and chaired the Annual Meeting Committee for many years. She participated in the development of the New Zealand TFH Association and Kinesiology Practitioners’ Accreditation Board (KPAB).
In business, Joan was Principal of the South Pacific Kinesiology College & developed a successful motel resort and an organic, nutritional supplement network worldwide.
Joan has a ready wit and an infectious laugh. These qualities, together with the ability to summarise information into clear step-wise presentations and demonstrate the practical application of student learning, made her a popular teacher worldwide.
Joan and Bruce lost a daughter to cancer in 2016. They have one daughter, six grandchildren, & one great-grandson. In 2024, Joan & Bruce celebrated their 81st birthdays & 59 years married.
